Seven Killed in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

On Monday, 24 August 2026, at approximately 12:03 am, a tragic multiple road traffic crash occurred along the Ibafo–Lagos corridor at Kara, Ibafo, resulting in the deaths of seven males and injuries to two others. The incident involved a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC, a white MACK trailer, and a Mitsubishi Canter marked JJJ920YA.

Afolabi Odunsi, the Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, confirmed the details in a statement from Abeokuta, attributing the crash to speed violation. The FRSC Ibafo Outpost Command received the report at about 04:04 am and arrived at the scene within five minutes.

The deceased victims were evacuated by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the injured were taken for medical attention. The vehicles involved were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibafo, for further action.

Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi urged motorists, especially drivers of articulated vehicles, to avoid excessive speed and exercise caution, particularly at night.
