NFF Headquarters Secured Amid FIFA and CAF Meetings

On September 14, 2026, the headquarters of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) at Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja was under heavy security as FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF) officials engaged with NFF management and Congressmen. This meeting followed the resignation of former NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, and other Executive Committee members.

Security personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigeria Police Force restricted access to the NFF premises, preventing entry for many stakeholders, including Ben Ogbemudia, a veteran sports journalist and special assistant to the NIS Director-General. The heightened security presence coincided with an international review of the NFF's governance and electoral processes, with FIFA and CAF officials arriving in Nigeria for a joint assessment mission scheduled for September 14 and 15.
