Hashim Seeks Unity Among Warring PDP Factions

Hashim is actively engaged in efforts to unite the warring factions within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) amid ongoing legal disputes and internal crises that have emerged since the 2023 elections. The discord culminated during the last national convention held in Ibadan.

Sources close to presidential aspirants indicate that Hashim, a founding member of the PDP since 1998, is consulting with key stakeholders across rival blocs to prevent further escalation of internal divisions. His reconciliation initiatives began in January and involve discussions with influential leaders, including Malam Abdulrahman, a prominent figure within the faction often associated with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

Additionally, Hashim has consulted with former heads of state Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida, although neither has publicly commented on the consultations. The inability of the party to resolve lingering crises has led to significant departures, including that of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to the All Progressives Congress (APC), with speculation surrounding Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal's potential defection.
