Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's Leave Amid Crisis

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria and 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), condemned President Bola Tinubu's decision to embark on a three-week leave while Vice President Kashim Shettima is representing him in Luanda, Angola, at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union. Atiku stated that this situation has created a vacuum of political leadership, which could escalate into a constitutional vacuum.

He criticized Tinubu for prioritizing a luxury trip over addressing pressing issues such as increasing food prices, rising transport fares, and insecurity in Nigeria. Atiku emphasized that true leadership requires being present during crises, likening the situation to a father leaving his family in danger.

He expressed that the President's absence indicates a lack of empathy for the struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians, asserting that a government disconnected from the people's pain cannot effectively address their challenges.
