Wike Defends Fubara's Return to Rainbow Coalition

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, defended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s decision to return to the Rainbow Coalition, stating that Fubara committed no offense by reconciling with the political group that initially supported him. Wike made these remarks on Tuesday while inspecting road projects in the Federal Capital Territory, dismissing claims that Fubara had been “forgiven” after a political crisis.

He emphasized that politics involves making decisions for the people's benefit and correcting mistakes. Wike had previously predicted Fubara's return, asserting that he had no better political alternative.

Fubara, during a ceremony for the reconstruction of the Riven Medical Facility in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, urged his supporters to back candidates from the Rainbow Coalition, declaring an end to political conflict in Rivers State. Wike expressed confidence that Fubara’s endorsement would strengthen support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.
