Wike's Aide Accuses Makinde of Political Desperation

Olayinka, a senior special assistant to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, publicly criticized Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, alleging that he is "desperately looking for" the vice presidential ticket. Olayinka claimed that Makinde's actions are motivated by a perceived loss of influence within the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He accused Makinde of attempting to revive political tensions reminiscent of the era of violence in the southwest. Furthermore, Olayinka stated that Makinde has failed in several political efforts both within and outside the PDP, including issues related to the Olubadan stool and intra-party contests in Oyo State.

He also alleged that Makinde has not accounted for funds reportedly received as compensation for victims of the 2024 Bodija explosion. Olayinka questioned whether Makinde's political maneuvers could lead to unrest, suggesting that his actions are driven by a need for political relevance outside the PDP.
