Heavy Rain Destroys Abuja's New Bus Terminal in Kugbo

On Tuesday, a heavy downpour in Abuja led to the destruction of a newly completed bus terminal located in the Kugbo area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The rain began around 3:30 PM and was accompanied by strong winds that blew off the terminal's roof, scattering debris across the area.

This incident caused traffic gridlock along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi expressway. Mr.

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to the Minister of the FCT, confirmed the incident and noted that the windstorm occurred during the heavy rainfall. Preliminary reports indicated minor damage to the Nyanya pedestrian bridge in the vicinity, but there were no reported injuries or vehicle damage.

In response to the situation, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike directed security personnel to be deployed to the scene, emphasizing that immediate action would be taken to address the damage caused by the windstorm.
