17-Year-Old Daniel Akanni Seeks N2M for Surgery

Daniel Akanni, a 17-year-old boy, is appealing for N2 million to undergo amputation of his left leg and to be fitted with an artificial limb. Born with a leg deformity, he had corrective surgery at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, at 18 months, which allowed him to walk but left him with a limp due to a shorter leg.

His mother, Oluwatoyin, explained that despite various medical treatments, including a free surgery program by the Lagos State Government in 2020, Daniel's condition worsened, resulting in his leg becoming twisted and unable to support him. Doctors at Igbobi have now recommended amputation as the only solution.

The total cost for the surgery and artificial limb is estimated at N2 million, which the family cannot afford. Oluwatoyin has made a heartfelt plea for financial assistance, stating that they have exhausted all their resources and are in desperate need of help.
