Fulani Herdsmen Attack FUTO Community, Kidnap Many

On Wednesday evening, armed assailants, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, attacked the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) community, specifically targeting areas including Ihiagwa, Eziobodo, and Okolochi. During the attack, many individuals were kidnapped, and several others sustained injuries from gunfire.

Eyewitnesses reported that approximately 30 assailants surrounded the road, shooting at passersby and abducting victims. Some of the injured were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri, while others were taken to different hospitals in the vicinity.

The Imo State Police Command has responded by strengthening security measures in the area and deploying personnel to ensure the safety of citizens. DSP Henri Okoy, the public relations officer, and State Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso confirmed the attack and assured that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this violent incident.
