Panic in Imo as Gunmen Invade Eziobodo Community

On Wednesday night, panic gripped the Eziobodo area of Owerri West Local Government Area in Imo State following an invasion by suspected gunmen. A viral video circulating on social media depicted students, traders, and motorists fleeing the area amid confusion.

Reports indicated that gunshots were heard, and a victim, a commercial motorcyclist, was seen in a video with blood on his white singlet, having sustained injuries to the left side of his head, which appeared shaved and covered with medical plaster. Eyewitnesses described narrowly escaping death, while passengers insisted on proceeding to their residences in Eziobodo despite the reported danger.

The unusual activity along the road triggered widespread panic within the university environment and the adjoining community, leading residents to abandon the streets for safety. As of the time of reporting, the exact circumstances surrounding the attack and the identity of the assailants had not been officially confirmed.
