House Launches Investigation Into N1.06 Trillion NG-CARES Social Intervention Programme

The House of Representatives has initiated an investigation into the N1.06 trillion NG-CARES Social Intervention Programme to assess its impact on vulnerable Nigerians. Chairman of the House Committee, Abubakar Kusada, revealed that despite the Federal Government releasing N696 million to support social safety nets and palliatives across 36 states and the FCT, many beneficiaries have not felt the effects.

The committee aims to uncover any disconnect in fund expenditure and ensure transparency. Kusada highlighted concerns about the misapplication of funds meant to support small businesses, potentially undermining the program's objectives.

The investigation will also scrutinize the procurement process for any irregularities and hold accountable those responsible for any misuse of funds. The committee seeks to bridge the gap between government intervention and tangible impact on citizens.
