House Committee Supports NDPHC on Ikot Abasi Project

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets, led by Chairman Hon. Ademorin Kuye, has pledged to collaborate with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) to address funding constraints and community issues delaying the completion of the 330kV Double Circuit Ikot Ekpene–Ikot Abasi Transmission Line Project (Lot 18T).

This commitment followed a site inspection on Thursday, where the committee assessed the project's progress and engaged with community leaders, NDPHC officials, and the engineering contractor, Anita Energy. Kuye stated that the project is critical for economic growth and electricity supply in Akwa Ibom State and surrounding areas.

He noted that both NDPHC and the contractor are prepared to resume work once outstanding challenges are resolved. The committee emphasized the importance of completing the project for local businesses, farmers, and overall socio-economic development.

Kuye also urged NDPHC to expedite compensation payments to affected landowners to facilitate the contractor's return to the site.
