SEDC Headquarters Progress Praised by House Committee

The House of Representatives Committee on the South-East Development Commission (SEDC) expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the Commission’s headquarters in Enugu state during an oversight visit. Chairman Chris Nkwonta (Rep, Ukwa East/Ukwa West) described the facility as essential for regional transformation, linking it to the historic philosophy of the Three Rs: Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Reconciliation, established after the Nigerian Civil War.
He noted that the headquarters would help address the civil war's aftermath, decades of neglect, and infrastructural deficits across the five states in the region. Managing Director of SEDC, Mark Okoye, stated that the headquarters, donated by the Enugu state government, would enhance the Commission's operational capacity and efficiency by centralizing its activities.
This centralization aims to improve coordination, strategic planning, and project execution, thereby facilitating the implementation of regional development master plans.
