House of Reps Inspects Alaoji Power Plant Progress

On Thursday, the House of Representatives, under the leadership of Chairman Victor Nwokolo, conducted an oversight visit to the Alaoji power plant project in Abia State. The project, a 570-megawatt combined cycle power plant, has faced delays but has shown significant progress under the management of Engr.

Jennif Adighij, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). Nwokolo praised the proactive approach of the NDPHC in resolving logistical bottlenecks that had stalled the project for years.

He emphasized the importance of the project in providing reliable electricity supply, which is essential for economic activities, particularly in Aba, a major commercial center. The committee urged the contractor to expedite external work ahead of the rainy season and to keep them informed about equipment purchases to prevent further delays.

Nwokolo expressed optimism about the project's recovery trajectory, noting that the current management has made visible improvements since taking over.
