Former Senator Bello Mandiya Found Dead in Bathroom

Former Nigerian Senator Bello Mandiya was discovered dead in his bathroom about 72 hours after he was last seen. Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, recounted the incident during a Senate plenary session.

Mandiya was last seen on September 4, 2026, before he fell and hit his head while taking a bath. Ningi, who was in Saudi Arabia at the time, learned of Mandiya's death from his son, who was among those who found the body after residents noticed a foul smell.

Mandiya had been preparing for Friday prayers when the accident occurred. The chief imam of Apo expressed concern over Mandiya's absence from prayers, prompting residents to check on him.

Upon forcing the door open, they found Mandiya's lifeless body. Ningi expressed sadness over the tragedy and extended condolences to Mandiya's family and constituents, emphasizing the unpredictability of life and the impermanence of status and wealth.
