Delta State Dominates Niger Delta Games with 52 Golds

The recently concluded Niger Delta Games in Benin City, Edo State, highlighted athletics as a key focus, with Delta State emerging victorious by securing 52 gold medals. This event showcased the athletic prowess of the region, particularly through stellar performances on the final day.

Delta State athletes dominated, winning 13 gold medals primarily in sprint relays, while Akwa Ibom excelled in middle and long-distance events. Noteworthy athletes included Ejiro Peter, who won gold in both the women's 100m and 200m, and Treasur Okerek, who played a crucial role in the women's 4x400m relay.

The event was organized under the leadership of Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, with technical coordination by Enefio Odo Obong. The games not only celebrated athletic talent but also aimed to encourage future competitions and development in Nigerian athletics.
