Bode George Calls for Preservation of Macaulay's Legacy

During the 80th anniversary of Herbert Samuel Heela Macaulay's death held in Lagos, Bode George, the former deputy national chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), urged Nigerians to preserve Macaulay's legacy as the country's foremost nationalist. The event was attended by prominent politicians and elder statesmen, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Gener Ik Nwachukwu, and presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party Adewol Adebayo.

George described Macaulay as a visionary leader whose courage and intellect laid the foundation for Nigeria's nationalist movement, which ultimately led to the country's independence. He emphasized that preserving Macaulay's legacy is crucial for building a nation founded on justice and strong institutions.

Sanwo-Olu also encouraged Nigerians to live impactful lives in public service, stating that true leadership is measured by the legacy one leaves behind.
