Bode George Commemorates Funsho Williams' 20th Remembrance

On Monday, dignitaries including Chief Bode George, former Lagos State Deputy Governor and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Koforola Akerele-Bucknor attended the 20th remembrance anniversary of Funsho Williams at St Dominic’s Church in Yaba, Lagos State. Funsho Williams, who was the PDP's governorship candidate in 2003, was murdered on July 27, 2006, by unknown assailants.

Chief Bode George, the former deputy national chairman of the PDP, described Williams as an epitome of civility and an icon, recalling the painful memory of his death. He stated, “Twenty is a long time but it looks like yesterday.

The pain of his loss is still there.” George urged Nigerians to reflect on the state of the nation two decades later and called on current leaders to focus on the country's welfare. Dr Funsho Doherty also praised Williams, highlighting his legacy as worthy of emulation.
