Ex-DSS Director Blames Buhari for Nigeria's Insecurity

Dennis Amachree, the former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), has attributed the escalation of insecurity in Nigeria to the administration of late former President Muhammadu Buhari. In his book, “DSS@40: My Journey Behind the Shield,” Amachree discusses how banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency proliferated during Buhari's tenure.

He asserts that the government failed to adequately address these threats despite numerous warnings. Amachree describes the Buhari administration as indifferent, leading to public frustration as citizens felt abandoned amid ongoing attacks.

He criticized Buhari's comments, such as labeling Nigerian youths as "lazy," which he claims further alienated the populace. Additionally, Amachree accused government officials of enabling the crisis through corruption and ransom payments to bandits, which he argues strengthened criminal networks.

He contends that the political class is the true barrier to peace and stability, prioritizing personal interests over the welfare of citizens.
