Atiku Abubakar Defends Support for Obasanjo Post-Prison

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar revealed that he personally supported former President Olusegun Obasanjo with food, clothing, and care after Obasanjo's release from prison, claiming he had very little at that time. This statement was made in response to Obasanjo's recent remark that appointing Atiku as his vice president was his greatest regret.

Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed sadness over Obasanjo's comments, suggesting they stemmed from resentment regarding Obasanjo's failed third-term bid. He recounted his unwavering support for Obasanjo during his imprisonment, stating he worked with others for his release and assisted him afterward.

Atiku also defended his actions against the third-term agenda, asserting that it was a stand for Nigeria's democracy. He questioned the timing of Obasanjo's criticisms, noting that distinguished Nigerians recognize his contributions to economic management during his tenure.
