Atiku Claims He Saved Obasanjo From Alleged Death Plot

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asserted that he saved former President Olusegun Obasanjo from an alleged assassination plot while Obasanjo was imprisoned. During an interview, Atiku claimed he leaked information regarding a planned injection that could have led to Obasanjo's death, drawing a parallel to a similar method allegedly used against the late Major-General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.

Atiku stated, “I saved Obasanjo’s life in prison by leaking information about an impending injection that could have killed him,” and emphasized that he warned Obasanjo not to accept the injection. He also mentioned that his current conflict with Obasanjo stems from his opposition to Obasanjo's purported ambition for a third term in office, stating, “Today, he wants the world to hate me because I opposed his third-term ambition.” As of the time of reporting, Obasanjo had not responded to Atiku's claims.
