Kalu Exposes Deception by 'Fake' PFIPC Director General

Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, disclosed that he was deceived into meeting Adeniyi Adeyemi, who falsely presented himself as the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Kalu explained that his office received an official letter dated May 2, 2025, which bore the presidential insignia and appeared legitimate.

After verifying the address, Kalu's team confirmed the meeting to discuss constitutional amendments and foreign investment priorities. However, the discussion deviated from the outlined topics, raising suspicions about the council's legitimacy.

Kalu urged lawmakers to support an investigation into the PFIPC, citing constitutional provisions. He highlighted that despite the council's activities, President Bola Tinubu had not approved its establishment or appointed anyone to lead it.

The controversy escalated with allegations of forgery and impersonation against Adeyemi, who was later arrested and maintained that the documents he possessed were legitimate.
