Kalu Exposes Fake DG of Foreign Intervention Council

Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, disclosed that he was deceived by a fraudulent Director General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, of the President Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. Kalu received an official letter dated May 2, 2025, bearing the presidential insignia, which led him to believe in the council's legitimacy.

During a plenary session, he supported a motion for an investigation into the council's activities, emphasizing the need for stricter verification of organizations claiming government affiliation. Kalu noted that while the letter appeared authentic, it raised doubts regarding the council's existence, as the Federal Government had distanced itself from it.

He urged lawmakers to support the motion to ensure transparency and accountability. The controversy surrounding the council intensified after it was linked to the 2026 Appropriation Act, despite the President's insistence that no such agency existed.

The matter has led to investigations by the Nigeria Police Force and the Security Agency.
