Lawyer Dies After Elevator Shaft Fall in Abuja Hotel

Abdulsalami Ginsau, a lawyer and recent appointee as the Kano State Assistant Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), died early on Friday after falling into an elevator shaft at a hotel in the Utako area of Abuja. The incident occurred around 6:30 AM when Ginsau, unaware of the elevator's malfunction, stepped into the shaft after the lift became void.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the hotel was overwhelmed with delegates from Kano State, who had booked 150 rooms for nearly 2,000 people. Reports indicated that the delegates behaved unruly, threatening hotel staff and overcrowding the elevator, which was designed for 6-8 persons but was crammed with 12-14 individuals.

The hotel management expressed regret over the incident and emphasized the need for a review of operational guidelines to prevent future occurrences. The police are currently investigating the matter.
