Excavation Pit Collapse in Kano Leaves Many Trapped

On Wednesday, an excavation pit collapsed in Ridawa Village, located in the Ghari Local Government Area of Kano State, resulting in a tragic incident where an unspecified number of brick workers were trapped underground. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the workers were inside the pit when it suddenly caved in.

Concerns have escalated regarding the fate of the trapped workers, with reports suggesting that at least 10 individuals are believed to be trapped. Sani Bala, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Ghari Tsanyawa Federal Constituency, has called for urgent government intervention to facilitate the rescue efforts and prevent further loss of life.

Local emergency response teams have commenced rescue operations, but as of the time of reporting, no victims had been rescued, raising concerns about their chances of survival. Saminu Abdullahi, a representative from the Kano State Fire Service, stated that the agency had not yet received an official report regarding the incident.
