Nigeria Expands Army Divisions to Enhance Security

President Bola Tinubu has approved a major expansion of the Nigerian Army, increasing its order of battle from eight to twelve divisions and recruiting an additional 28,000 personnel. This initiative is one of the most significant military reforms in Nigeria's recent history, reflecting the need for a larger and more agile military to address the country's evolving security environment.

The Nigerian Army's history dates back to 1863 and has seen continuous expansion to adapt to changing national realities, including the Nigerian Civil War and the emergence of the Boko Haram insurgency.
