Odigie-Oyegun Reveals Assassination Attempt in Edo State

John Odigie-Oyegun, the former governor of Edo State, detailed an assassination attempt that occurred shortly before a scheduled meeting at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat. The incident involved gunmen attacking the party's facility located on Ogbelaka Street off Sokponba Road in Benin City.

Odigie-Oyegun, alongside ADC leader Peter Obi and other members, narrowly escaped the attack, which resulted in several gunshots being fired and damage to party property, including chairs, canopies, and banners. Some party members reportedly sustained injuries during the assault.

Odigie-Oyegun explained that they received a security alert prior to the attack, which contributed to their survival. He expressed dissatisfaction with the security response to the incident, emphasizing the need for better protection for political figures in the region.
