Anambra Police Rescue Kidnapped Doctor and Four Others

On May 10, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command successfully rescued Dr. Edwin Emegakor, the Chief Medic Director of Crown Multi Specialist Hospital in Nkpor, along with four other individuals who had been kidnapped on May 7, 2026.

The rescue operation, which took place in Obosi, involved a fierce gun battle with armed criminals, leading to the neutralization of two suspects. During the operation, police recovered a locally made pistol, 100 rounds of GPMG ammunition, 23 expended cartridges, and three vehicles, including a silver Lexus RX 350 belonging to one of the rescued victims.

The police reported that two officers sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange of gunfire, and the command expressed its commitment to protecting lives and property in the state. The operation was made possible through intelligence-led policing, and the police emphasized their ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, cultism, and other violent crimes in Anambra State.
