Kidnapped Doctor Okam Emegakor Released in Anambra

Dr. Princeton Okam, the chairman of the Anambra branch of the Nigerian Medical Association, confirmed the release of Dr.

Okam Emegakor, who was kidnapped on May 7. Emegakor, a medical director at Crown Multi Specialist Hospital in Nkpor, was abducted while attending to patients at the hospital by unidentified men allegedly dressed in security agency uniforms.

After spending a day in captivity, Emegakor was rescued, and he expressed gratitude for his safe return, praising God for his release. The police played a major role in securing Emegakor's freedom.

Following his release, Emegakor was reunited with his family in good health and high spirits, despite the trauma of the experience. His release led to a change in the Nigerian Medical Association's earlier plans for an industrial action strike scheduled to begin on Monday, as they will review the situation in an emergency general meeting.

Okam thanked everyone who contributed to the rescue efforts and urged the Anambra government to strengthen security to protect lives and property across the state.
