Pregnant Kidnap Victim Gives Birth in Bandits' Camp

Mr. Love Marcu, a pregnant woman abducted by armed men in Gidan Waya, Lere Local Government Area, Kaduna State, gave birth while held captive in a bandits' camp. The incident occurred when her community was invaded, resulting in the death of her husband.

After enduring harsh conditions and negotiating a ransom that totaled approximately 77 million Naira, she was released. Rev. Fr. Yakubu Jerri of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan recounted her ordeal, highlighting the emotional trauma she faces, particularly the loss of her husband and the challenges of raising her child born in captivity.

The Christian Aid Initiative Nigeria, led by Rev. Joseph Hayab, is providing support to victims of kidnapping and violence in the region, emphasizing the need for community cooperation to address insecurity and restore peace in Kaduna State, which has been severely affected by banditry.
