Police Arrest Three for Mob Killing in Bauchi

On May 7, 2026, the Bauchi State Police Command received a distress call at 11:50 AM regarding a mob attack in Bunga Hamlet, Dagu Ward. The victims, Kabiru Idri, aged 30, and Ibrahim Samaila, aged 40, were riding a motorcycle when they were chased by a mob in Ningi LGA, who accused them of theft.

The mob intercepted them in Bunga Hamlet, where they were severely beaten. The victims were rushed to a general hospital in Warji, but medical personnel confirmed their deaths.

Following the incident, police operatives, led by Detective Habib, arrested three suspects identified as Samaila Turawa, Danbaba Haruna, and Ubal Mai Kaji, who are currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi. The police spokesperson, Commissioner of Police Sani Omolori Aliyu, condemned the incident and ordered a discreet investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killings.

He reiterated that no individual or group has the right to unlawfully take a person's life.
