TCN Thwarts Theft Attempt at Bauchi Substation

On July 24, 2026, at approximately 9:34 PM, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) successfully foiled an attempted theft at its 330/132kV transmission substation in Bauchi. Security personnel intercepted suspected vandals who were trying to remove critical tower members.

Upon noticing the guards, the suspects fled the scene. TCN's General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, reported that an inspection of the area resulted in the recovery of 12 transmission tower angle irons, one heavy-duty metal measuring scale, and a white pickup truck believed to have been used in the theft attempt.

These recovered items and the vehicle were handed over to the Railway Division Police Station in Bauchi for further investigation. Mbah confirmed that no equipment was stolen and no injuries were reported during the incident.

TCN commended its security team's prompt response and emphasized the importance of community vigilance in reporting suspicious activities around power installations.
