TCN Thwarts Theft Attempt at Bauchi Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) successfully foiled an attempted theft at its 330/132kV transmission substation in Bauchi on Friday, July 24, 2026. Security personnel on duty intercepted suspected vandals attempting to remove critical transmission tower components.

Upon sighting the guards, the suspects abandoned their operation and fled the scene. A subsequent inspection led to the recovery of 12 transmission tower angle irons, a heavy-duty metal measuring scale, and a white pickup truck believed to have been used in the attempted theft.

TCN's General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, confirmed that no equipment was stolen and no injuries were recorded during the incident. The recovered materials and vehicle were handed over to the Railway Division Police Station in Bauchi for further investigation.

Mbah commended the security personnel for their prompt response and urged local residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around power installations.
