Nigerian Tax Authorities Introduce New Portal for Tax ID Retrieval Using NIN and CAC Numbers

The Nigerian tax system is set for a transformation with the introduction of a new portal to retrieve Tax ID using NIN or CAC number from January 2026. The Joint Revenue Board (JRB) and Nigerian Revenue Service (NR) have announced this initiative, following tax reform laws enacted under the Tinubu administration.

Taiwo Oyedele, chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, highlighted the significant tax relief expected across the economy. The new system aims to streamline the process of acquiring Tax ID for individuals and businesses in Nigeria.
