Nigeria Introduces Online System for Retrieving Tax ID Numbers Using NIN and CAC Details

The Nigerian tax system has launched an online platform allowing individuals and businesses to retrieve their Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) using existing records from the Corporate Affairs Commission and National Identification Number. This move is expected to streamline tax processes, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve compliance.

Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, reassures the public about upcoming tax reforms effective from January 1, 2026, emphasizing that the changes are not intended to impose higher tax rates. The initiative seeks to enhance data accuracy, strengthen compliance, and provide taxpayers with easy access to their tax details without third-party assistance.
