HPCSLH Partners with Ibori Golf Club for 2027 SUN Open

The High Performance Centre and Sports Leadership Hub (HPCSLH) has entered into a multi-year agreement with Ibori Golf and Country Club to host the SUN Amateur Open, sanctioned by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). The tournament is scheduled for January 7 to 9, 2027, and aims to improve the global visibility of Nigerian amateur golfers.
Ibori Golf and Country Club was represented by captain Alex Joe and treasurer Sunny Okorie, while the HPCSLH delegation included Bob Olukoya, Joanne Macrae, and Kolawole Oyekunle. Joe expressed that the agreement aligns with the club's ambition to host international tournaments and promote tourism in Delta State, assuring that the golf course would be in excellent condition for the event.
Olukoya noted that only one Nigerian golfer, Olalekan Ogunbameru, was on the WAGR at the time, having qualified by winning the previous SUN Open in January 2026. HPCSLH aims to create opportunities for Nigerian amateur golfers to compete internationally and develop junior golfers.
