The 2026 Kwara Open Golf Championship is set to occur at the Ilorin Golf Club from October 10 to 11, attracting approximately 100 golfers from more than 15 clubs across Nigeria. This two-day tournament is considered one of the most significant amateur titles on the state golf calendar and has evolved into a sports tourism event, bringing players and guests to Ilorin from various regions.

The competition will include categories for men, lady golfers, and veterans, allowing participants to compete for honors. Luqman Owolewa, the Captain of Ilorin Golf Club, stated that the tournament plays a crucial role in promoting golf and fostering connections within the golfing community.

He emphasized that the club's hospitality and environment are major draws for participants, contributing to the event's strong turnout over the years. The influx of golfers and guests is anticipated to enhance Ilorin's visibility and stimulate economic activity in the state capital.

The event is supported by the Kwara State Government and several corporate organizations, which aid in the development of golf in the state.
