Chris Hughton Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer at 67

Chris Hughton, a notable figure in football and former manager of Newcastle and Brighton, revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in April of the previous year. The cancer was detected early, leading to successful surgery in May.

At 67 years old, Hughton expressed that the diagnosis did not frighten him, as he understands that everyone reacts differently to such news. He did not immediately think of the worst-case scenario but remained focused on continuing his career in football.

Hughton has had a distinguished playing career, representing Tottenham with 398 appearances and winning the UEFA Cup and two FA Cups in the early 1980s. He concluded his playing career at West Ham and Brentford, earning 53 caps for the Republic of Ireland.

His managerial career includes guiding Newcastle and Brighton to the Premier League, as well as recent roles at Birmingham, Norwich, Nottingham Forest, and managing the Ghana national team.
