HURIWA Demands DSS Arrest Igboho Over Threats

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has urged the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest Sundai Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, due to alleged threats made against opposition politicians in the South West. This demand follows the circulation of a viral audio clip where Igboho reportedly warned political opponents, including President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, not to campaign in Yoruba land.

HURIWA's national coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, stated that Igboho's remarks pose a danger and could incite political violence, urging security agencies to act swiftly to maintain law and order before the 2027 general elections. The organization highlighted a concerning trend of political intimidation in the region, referencing past incidents involving Musiliu Akinsanya, known as MC Oluomo.

HURIWA called for President Tinubu to publicly distance himself from individuals making threats and emphasized the importance of safeguarding democratic freedoms across Nigeria.
