HURIWA Demands Arrest of Sheikh Gumi Over Alleged Terrorist Support

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi over his alleged support for terrorists in the North West region of Nigeria. HURIWA accuses Gumi of providing moral and propaganda support to Fulani terrorists without facing prosecution, while individuals like Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have been detained for advocating self-determination.

The group also condemns the government for selective enforcement of counter-terrorism laws and highlights the stringent provisions of the law, including capital punishment for certain terrorist offenses. HURIWA reminds the government of the need to uphold human rights, including the right to peaceful protest.
