Zulum Anoints Gubio as Successor, Clarifies No Endorsement

On Wednesday, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum stated that he anointed Gubio as his successor, clarifying that this should not be interpreted as an endorsement. Zulum's remarks came during a political engagement in Abuja, where he received aspirants presenting their nomination forms for the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial election.

His special adviser on media, Illiya, explained that the governor's action is part of a routine political tradition where leaders receive aspirants and offer prayers. Zulum is affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State.

The distinction between anointing and endorsing was emphasized, as these terms often overlap but carry different implications in political contexts.
