Ortom Offers Collaboration to Alia Post-Election

Samuel Ortom, the former Governor of Benue State, disclosed that he reached out to his successor, Governor Hyacinth Alia, after the 2023 governorship election, offering to collaborate for the state's development. Ortom emphasized that despite their political differences, he recognized Alia's victory as divinely ordained and expressed his willingness to assist with any clarifications needed regarding the handover notes from his eight-year tenure.

However, Ortom criticized Alia's administration for not fulfilling key campaign promises, particularly those related to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and security. He challenged Alia to account for his commitments to return IDPs to their ancestral homes within 100 days of taking office.

Ortom lamented the ongoing insecurity affecting residents' livelihoods, including his own farming activities, and rejected claims that his administration failed to address insecurity, asserting that significant progress had been made before he left office in 2023.
