Sowore Denies NBA's Claims of Courtroom Press Conference

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore responded to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), which accused him of holding a press conference inside the Federal High Court in Abuja. Sowore denied these allegations, stating that he was merely responding to journalists' questions, a routine media interaction.

He criticized the NBA's president, Afam Osigwe, for what he described as a sad misrepresentation of the facts surrounding the incident. Sowore explained that he was present in court to address a motion regarding cybercrime charges filed against him, which he deemed baseless.

He highlighted that the presiding judge, M.S. Liman, declined to sign an order related to the case due to a motion filed by the police.

Sowore also expressed concern over the NBA's silence during previous incidents involving alleged violations of court processes and emphasized the need to protect judicial integrity. The confrontation with senior advocate Musibau Adetunbi underscored the tensions surrounding courtroom decorum.
