Tinubu's Aide Dismisses Claims of Widespread Hunger

Bayo Onanuga, serving as a special adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made remarks during an interview on Arise TV on Tuesday night, where he expressed disbelief regarding the widespread claims of hunger among Nigerians. He noted that despite the country's current economic challenges, he does not personally observe the level of hunger being reported.

Onanuga pointed out that the Federal Government has taken significant steps to enhance worker welfare, particularly through an increase in the national minimum wage. He addressed concerns about the survival of people in the private sector amidst rising inflation and increased costs of living, which have been exacerbated by recent policy changes, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira.

Onanuga's comments come at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with the effects of rising food prices, transport costs, and overall living expenses, leading to heightened public concern about economic hardship.
