Ycee Reveals Mental Health Diagnosis During Lockdown

Nigerian singer and rapper Ycee disclosed that he was diagnosed with a mental health condition during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. He shared his experience during a recent episode of the Afropolitan Podcast.

Ycee lived in London during the lockdown when he received his diagnosis and spent six months in a UK hospital, three of which were dedicated to treatment. After his diagnosis, he returned to Nigeria to continue his treatment, which involved obtaining a visa to return to Lagos for the mental health system.

Ycee described his six-year journey with severe mental health issues, including multiple hospital admissions and therapy sessions. He stated that his condition fluctuated, sometimes feeling stable and other times experiencing dark moments.

Currently, Ycee reports that he is stable and continues ongoing therapy.
