Benjamin Kalu Denies Credential Forgery Allegations

Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has publicly refuted allegations of credential forgery. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinu Nwabughiogu, Kalu described the claims made by a coalition of civil society groups as unproven and politically motivated.

The coalition alleged irregularities in Kalu's National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) records and legal training, threatening to escalate the matter if not addressed within 72 hours. Kalu's office stated that the allegations lack substantiation and do not affect his qualifications as a legal practitioner, which have undergone rigorous verification throughout his career.

The statement further characterized the allegations as part of a coordinated smear campaign aimed at damaging Kalu's reputation. Kalu urged the public to allow relevant institutions to examine the petition through due process.
