MC Oluomo Claims NURTW Presidency Amid Secretariat Takeover

Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has declared that he remains the president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) following reports of a takeover of the union's Abuja secretariat by Tajudeen Baruwa. Baruwa's actions stem from a court ruling that favored his faction, which has intensified the leadership crisis within the NURTW.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Akinsanya emphasized that the takeover was not in accordance with due legal process and that he is appealing the court's decision. He urged union members to remain calm and abide by the law, asserting that he continues to hold the presidency of the NURTW.

The situation has escalated tensions within the union, which has been embroiled in a leadership dispute for nearly two years, with Baruwa's faction claiming to have the backing of a court ruling that has yet to be fully resolved.
