Tijjani Reijnders Joins Al Qadsiah for £51 Million Transfer

Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders completed a £51 million transfer from Manchester City to Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah in August 2026, signing a lucrative four-year contract worth approximately €100 million (£86 million). Reijnders stated that the opportunity to secure generational wealth for his family made the transfer irresistible.

He expressed that the financial terms would ensure his family’s future, saying, “It’s money for generations of my family.” Although he acknowledged the financial incentives, Reijnders also mentioned tactical frustrations under Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, where he was often deployed in advanced roles rather than his preferred box-to-box position. He made 50 appearances for Manchester City, winning both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup during his single season with the club.

Conversations with Al Qadsiah manager Brendan Rodgers reassured him about the potential for a future return to European football after his stint in the Saudi Pro League, which he rated higher than the Dutch Eredivisie.
