Wike Clarifies Comments Made During Channel TV Interview

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, clarified comments made during a media chat on Channel Television, asserting that they were not intended as threats. His Senior Special Assistant for Public Communication, Lere Olayinka, issued a statement on Saturday, explaining that Wike's remarks were figurative and misunderstood by the show's anchor, Seun Okinbaloye.

Olayinka noted that Wike did not mean any harm and expressed disappointment that Okinbaloye's comments took a political turn. He emphasized that Wike holds journalists in high regard and that the remarks were made in a hyperbolic context, not meant to be interpreted literally.

Olayinka cautioned against misrepresenting Wike's statements for political purposes and urged the public not to allow the comments to be used as political propaganda.
