Tinubu Reflects on Exile and Commitment to Democracy

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, shared his experiences of being detained and exiled in the pursuit of democracy. During an interfaith iftar event in Abuja, he highlighted the current state of democracy in Nigeria and the need for commitment to good governance and adherence to the rule of law.

Tinubu reiterated the importance of strengthening electoral institutions and processes across political parties. He advocated for the adoption of a direct primary system, which would allow party members to actively participate in choosing candidates for various political offices.
